The 2012 Triple Crown

The journey featured the sports highs and lows before ending with annoucement of a complete overhaul to the Kentucky Derby qualification system. It was a valuable attempt at becoming a historic year in thoroughbred history but it won’t be forgotten.

The Triple Crown started off with a bang when I’ll Have Another made a bold stretch move to track down the front-leading Bodemeister. What was fascinating about the triumph was that his march towards immoratility didn’t stop in Kentucky. His win in the Preakness Stakes put I’ll Have Another in contention to become the next Triple Crown winner.

Unfortunately the racing gods put the 12th Triple Crown winner back on hold and the pursuit of becoming the first since Affirmed in 1978 continues……….
