The Return of the Dirty Uncle

Prohibitive Derby favorite Uncle Mo returns to the track for the first time since his breathtaking run in the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs.  Stabled at the Palm Meadows training facility under the watchful eye of Todd Pletcher and assistant trainer Whit Beckman, Uncle Mo has been steadily drilling towards (March 6 half-mile move in :48 4/5) his first challenge of the year in the $100,000 1 mile Timely Writer Stakes at Gulfstream Park.  The muscled freak horse version of Herschel Walker should be ready in what promises to be a very short price and a very small field.  Hopefully, he gets more out of it than a light trot in his preparation for Kentucky and the Wood Memorial.

Later this week, we will be taking a closer look at both the Timely Writer Stakes and the Tampa Bay Derby which will feature Derby hopefuls Brethren, Free Entry and Beamer.
